Julie Freeman-Mullins is a polymer clay jewelry artist and designer, whose creative journey is a testament to the endless possibilities of this art medium. Quickly falling in love with this curious and expressive jewelry making process, her passion for colors, textures, and form finds expression in every meticulously crafted piece, transforming polymer clay into wearable works of art that captivate the imagination.

Hailing from a family of artists, Julie’s artistic side was nurtured from a very young age. Her childhood was filled with endless hours of exploration, experimentation, and artistry. Drawing, painting, handcrafts, jewelry, and performing arts in dance and theater, and even a 18 year career in culinary arts, Julie has laid the foundation for her lifelong love affair with creativity and artistic adventure.
Julie’s fascination with polymer clay began in 2020 when she stumbled upon a tutorial on Pinterest. After a decade searching for a potential small handmade business idea, Julie had finally found an artistic outlet that she hoped to share with the world. So for 2 years, she immersed herself in mastering the art and developing the ideal combination of skills, so that in spring of 2021 she decided to take the leap and make Anam Cara Clay Goods a reality.
Julie’s polymer clay jewelry is characterized by their intricate patterns, bold and vibrant color palettes, and playful exploration of form, creating a harmonious blending of artistic vision and meticulous craftmanship. Each piece tells a unique story, evoking emotions and curiosity, and capturing the essence of her artistic vision. In an assortment of bold statement dangles, studs and drops, necklaces, bracelets and other fun, yet functional accessories, each piece is one of a kind, surprisingly lightweight and durable, and most importantly fun to wear.
While polymer clay is the primary medium that Julie employs, the versatility of the medium allows her incorporate other art mediums such as acrylics, pastels, mica powders, gold leaf, and even alcohol inks to bring her visions to life. The malleability of polymer clay allows Julie to use an array of techniques, textures, layers, and blends to achieve a level of quality and precision that is a testament to her keen eye for color and design. By adding other complimentary components such as glass beads, gemstones, and various gold and brass accents, her designs have an added depth and dimension as wearable art.
Julie’s creativity draws inspiration from a myriad of sources. From the vibrant colors of a mountain landscape at sunset to the bright and funky patterns of a sundress, the surroundings of every day life continually fuel her imagination.
